General / “Hadad” .. a sustainable program that works to preserve rare falcon breeds from extinction and return them to their homes

The Hadad program, which comes within the framework of the Saudi Falcon Club's commitment to its responsibility to preserve rare breeds of falcons from extinction and return them to their habitat, plays a major and effective role in preserving and sustaining heritage. The mission of Hadad teams is not limited to collecting, preparing and releasing falcons only, but there are many stages and follow-up Dens that contribute to the breeding of these falcons. The program observer in Madinah, Humaidan Al-Rashidi, explained that great efforts are being made by the Saudi Falcon Club and the (Hadad) program in order to protect the falcons (Al-Wakri and Al-Jabal Shaheen) from extinction, which contributes remarkably to preserving the ecological balance. And Al-Rashidi indicated that the numbers of these falcons decreased frighteningly during the past years and almost disappeared from the sky of the Kingdom, and had it not been for God - Glory be to Him - and then the efforts of the Saudi Falcons Club through the Hadad program, they would have completely disappeared, but praise be to God, the program achieved impressive results and contributed to the reproduction of these falcons and their revival again.Al-Rashidi revealed that the program teams follow up the chicks closely through a partridge with numbers and phones of the Hadad program teams, and tracking devices that are placed for some chicks in addition to field monitoring, and the teams make great efforts to protect them from emergencies and when they descend into the valleys.Al-Rashidi stated that the chicks in the first months need protection, and we, as Hadad teams, contribute to their protection and also teach them how to protect themselves when they descend into the valleys, by introducing them to the nets, where we set up a net for them and they descend in it and get to know it so that they avoid it if they encounter it again in their search for food.Al-Rashidi said: “When the chick leaves its mother and begins to rely on itself, it is vulnerable to danger, as it pounces on anything and does not know the net, which makes it easier to catch it, so we try to introduce it to these things, and it happens that the chick is without food for a whole day due to its lack of experience, so when it leaves His mother is losing weight remarkably.Regarding the places where falcons are released, Al-Rashidi stressed that the process of selecting sites is subject to many calculations, during which the surrounding environment of the area, the possibility of building nests and the availability of food are taken into account.
